    Omar Khan - Actor, Presenter, Writer.

    I started my career as a TV presenter and hosted the weekly Sony TV show “View Asia” for seven years. I then moved to Mumbai and appeared in five Bollywood feature films including the smash hit "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" and was in the main cast for the Zee TV drama serial “Cloud 9”. I voiced the character Mr Nibblitt on the CBeebies cartoon “Boj” and was live presenter on the CBeebies series “Treasure Champs. I have also been on several national tours in theatre.

     

    I acted in and produced my own sitcom pilot “Love, Sex and Side Effects” which was developed by the BBC. I also appeared in several high-profile, award winning short films such as Sarmad Masud’s “Two Dosas”, Simon Ryninks “Contractor 014352” and “The Plunge”. The Plunge premiered this year at Palm Springs and had it’s UK premier at Aesthetica in November. These shorts have garnered me four Best Actor nominations over the last year. In November 2019, I won Best Actor at the UK Actor's TweetFest Film Festival. We next screen at London Short Film Festival in January 2020.

     

    As a writer I've had five plays staged, including two national tours, with two more due next year. I've written 23 episodes of the Zee TV Drama "Cloud 9", been a finalist in a BBC Films competition and won two Best Writer awards at international film festivals.

    Acting

I voiced the character Mr Nibblitt on the CBeebies cartoon “Boj” in over 20 episodes.

     

    In theatre, I have been on several national tours from the Bollywood re-imagining of Twelfth Night “What You Fancy”, to children’s theatre “The Snow Queen” and “Dough” to adult themed plays like “No Dogs, No Indians”.

     

    In 2016, I acted and produced my own sitcom pilot “Love, Sex and Side Effects” which was developed by the BBC for six months. I also appeared in several high-profile, award winning short films such as Sarmad Masud’s “Two Dosas”, Simon Ryninks “Contractor 014352” and “The Plunge”. The Plunge premiered this year at Palm Springs and will have it’s UK premier at Aesthetica later this year. These shorts have garnered me four Best Actor nominations, three for “Love, Sex and Side Effects” at festivals in London, Brussels and Valencia and one for “Contractor 014352” at a festival in London.

    Presenting

    I started my career as a TV presenter and hosted the weekly Sony TV show “View Asia” for seven years, hosting over 350 episodes. More recently I was a  presenter on the CBeebies series “Treasure Champs".
     
    I am happy to work with or without auto-cue and have presented many live shows.

    Writing

    As a writer I began my career in theatre, with five plays staged, two of which went on national tour. I wrote 23 episodes of the Zee TV Drama "Cloud 9" and won two Best Comedy writer awards for my pilot "Love, Sex and Side Effects at international film festivals. This year I had a further two Best Writer nominations. 

     

    In 2016, I was a finalist for the BBC Films Screenplay First Award, one of only 7 from 445 applicants. From this BBC Writers' Room selected me to join the shadow scheme for the CBBC show “The Dumping Ground”.

     

    My latest play "Mr Khan's Emporium" is due to tour next year. I've also been developing a play "Golden Child" with the Criterion Theatre as part of their new writing programme. 

     

    My latest short film "The Plunge" premiered at Palm Springs and is due to have it's UK premiere in November at Aesthetica.

    Love, Sex and Side Effects

    In 2016 I shot a sitcom pilot in which I played the lead character Jay.
     
    This show was being developed by BBC comedy. It has won Best Comedy at two international film festivals. I was nominated for Best Actor at three festivals. The show also won Best Supporting Actress for Tallulah Sheffield in Valencia.
